We are a fun group of technical specialists who support the Dean's Office for the College of Engineering. Additionally, we work with many of the departments in the college. Computing Services is a great place to showcase your skills and learn new ones.
Student Computer Lab Tech
The College of Engineering Computing Services seeks an undergraduate student assistant to join our help desk team.
Specific duties:
- Set up workstations to deploy to staff and faculty, monitor several undergrad computing labs, and provide help to students as needed.
- Work on additional projects with CoE Computing staff to include networking, application troubleshooting, lab imaging, and hardware configuration.
Basic qualifications:
- Dedicated to providing excellent customer service and support
- Independent, self-starter with good problem solving skills
- Ability to set up, configure, install and troubleshoot Windows PC
- Hardware installation experience (hard drives, RAM, cards, etc.)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Familiarity with different browsers, inclulding Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Preferred experience
- Familiarity with applications such as Solidworks, Matlab, Mathematica, and Ansys
- Experience with Ghost, MDT, or WDS
- Experience with OSX
Hours and salary
The workload will be 10-19 hours per week. Salary will be based on experience. We prefer a student with at least 2 years remaining until graduation.
