The WE Rise mentoring program facilitates close relationships between mentors and mentees, engaging them with STEM-focused activities to build research interest and skills and encouraging interest in STEM careers.

In partnership with Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the mentoring program is intended to connect students with engineering mentors and build connections. The program begins with the fall quarter welcome and orientation, with mentoring being offered winter and spring quarters. The program emphasizes building relationships with women mentors in engineering but welcomes all students who would like to be a part of the WE Rise community.

WE Rise mentoring aims to:

  • Increase understanding and confidence about STEM major choices
  • Help students explore various pathways at the College of Engineering
  • Expose students to the university campus and available resources
  • Connect peers and increase their sense of community
  • Provide information on career pathways
  • Support goal setting and achievements
  • Encourage graduate-level research and beyond
