We have been receiving a lot of questions from this group asking to whom they should be forwarding this email. This email is intended for anyone managing Back to School/Research/Office efforts as well as supervisors of essential personnel and others closely connected with COVID-19 planning. This digest is not intended for broad distribution. The links and resources provided here reflect announcements and updates still in flux - and much of the information may change for those who are not returning to campus in the immediate future.
Returning to Campus
- Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) requires this online training for all persons on campus (faculty, staff, and students), even if they have already been working onsite as a critical employee, prior to returning to campus - now with live voice narration.
- Daily attestations are required for all staff and academic personnel coming to campus.
- For staff and student employees/supervisors
- For academic personnel, including faculty, librarians, medical residents and fellows, postdoctoral scholars, and academic staff
- On 6/16/2020, the UW released guidelines on a Face Covering Policy describing the requirements and responsibilities for units and personnel and that is in line with the University COVID-19 Prevent Plan for the Workplace.
- Workplace COVID-19 Risk Level and Selection of PPE provides guidance to determine the level of PPE required depending on job type and risk of exposure.
- UWEM, EH&S and the Office of Special Programs are working to establish a set of COVID-19 guidelines for special event planners that will be a part of the Use of University Facilities online application.
- The University’s central storefront sells face coverings, PPE, and other supplies for COVID-19 prevention in the workplace. Units are asked to designate representatives to order from the storefront. Contact your building coordinator, or email Kojay Pan for more information about access.
Returning to Work
- Details for accommodations for high-risk employees to COVID-19 have been updated and remain in effect through 8/1/2020.
- UW-IT announced changes to Zoom storage in the cloud, effective 7/20/2020, needed to free up cloud storage capacity to ensure widespread access.
- Washington state announced that the law requiring a one-week waiting period before eligibility for unemployment benefits will continue to be waived through 7/4/2020.
- Unit/site-specific COVID-19 Prevention Plans are required for University workplaces.
- UW Facilities has convened a work group to develop a building checklist for building coordinators and department administrators that addresses operational issues related to restoring facilities to pre-COVID conditions.
- The UW has convened a Back to the Workplace Task Force reviewing and updating University protocols for how more UW employees can return to in-person work on our campuses.

Returning to School
- No Coronavirus cases have been detected in the UW Athletic program as of screenings conducted to 6/18/2020 (Sports Illustrated)

- The UW has convened a Back to School Task Force reviewing and updating University protocols for campus spaces including residences, classrooms, labs and libraries.
