Improving the Goodwill Sorting Process

Evergreen Goodwill serves its non-profit mission of providing free job training and education to those who face barriers through the process of accepting donated goods, processing those goods (evaluation and pricing), placing those goods in the correct channel (retail stores, outlet stores/salvage, e-commerce) and collecting revenue in exchange for those goods. A significant portion of the net revenue value equation is the time spent processing product. Evergreen Goodwill's current sort process has been in place, with slight modifications, for the past 10-15 years, and is looking for a process to better serve them financially by producing items for quickly and efficiently. The student team worked to create a report to Evergreen Goodwill that outlines affordable and effective production of items, from donations through production, and investigates human and material resources that are significant contributors to gross revenue.
