David Bergsman joins Chemical Engineering this fall as an assistant professor. He was most recently a postdoctoral associate at MIT where he created a low-cost method for making conductive water filtration membranes, which can be used for advanced water treatment approaches.
At the UW, David plans to develop chemical tools and technologies that address water scarcity and provide carbon-free energy for a growing human population. By leveraging his expertise in ultrathin films, nanotechnology and atomic layer processing tools, he hopes to identify promising materials candidates for membranes, catalysts, solar cells and batteries.
