Returning to Campus
- Daily attestations are required for all staff and academic personnel coming to campus.
- For staff and student employees/supervisors
- For academic personnel, including faculty, librarians, medical residents and fellows, postdoctoral scholars, and academic staff
- On 6/11/2020, UW announced it is dropping the standardized testing requirement for incoming students beyond fall 2021, effective immediately on UW Seattle campus. UW Bothell and UW Tacoma will be reviewing their standardized test score policies.
- UW Libraries developed a comprehensive online resource page detailing changes to services in the UW Library system, including those anticipated fall quarter.
- On 6/8/2020, the UW released “Expectations for Summer 2020 Youth Programs” which apply to both University-led programs as well as any youth groups that use University facilities. Only youth programs with a primary purpose of serving child care needs for working families of children aged 0-12 years old are allowed to operate on UW campus properties.
- On 6/8/2020, the UW released guidance on the planning and installation of plexiglass barriers.
- On 6/5/2020, King County was approved to move to Modified Phase 1 and Pierce County was approved to move to Phase 2. Moving to a new phase does not require a return to work/school. Local unit COVID-19 Prevention Plans should guide when a return to work/school can be done safely.
- All units are required to submit a Safe Start Checklist (Google Form) before returning significant numbers of employees physically back to worksites. This will certify that your unit COVID-19 Prevention plans are in place for personnel returning to work.
- On 6/1/2020, parking enforcement for the Seattle campus began on all surface lots and parking garages. The E-1 and E-18 parking lots remain free.
Returning to Work
- Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) requires this online training for all employees prior to returning to campus.
- The UW has convened a Back to the Workplace Task Force reviewing and updating University protocols for how more UW employees can return to in-person work on our campuses.
Returning to Research
- Updates to the Office of Research’s Guidance for Returning to In-Person Research
- A sample plan, a decision tree, and some FAQs providing guidance on field work are now available on the Mitigating Impacts web page.
- Effective 5/22/2020, some additional human subjects research is now allowed.
- Guidance for limited circumstances in which research can be conducted requiring less than 6 foot distance (pdf).
- Q&A with Mary Lidstrom, Vice Provost for the Office of Research, on guidelines developed to help safely ramp-up research
Returning to School
- On 6/5/2020, Provost Mark Richards announced that summer B term will be held remotely (with a few exceptions).
- On 6/3/2020, the UW expanded flexible grading options for students in spring quarter 2020.
- The UW has convened a Back to School Task Force reviewing and updating University protocols for campus spaces including residences, classrooms, labs and libraries.
