The University of Washington College of Engineering has launched a redesigned homepage, more intuitive navigation and brand-new pages, introducing a fresh look and improved user experience to one of the College's most important communication platforms.

With more than 800,000 visits each year, the UW Engineering website serves as a digital front door, connecting current and prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, industry partners and the broader community with information about our academic programs, research and impact.
The launch marks a significant milestone in an ambitious website redesign project that began in January 2025. Building on a comprehensive brand redesign that integrated feedback from surveys and stakeholders across the College, the website project brings UW Engineering's updated visual identity and messaging to life while making it easier for visitors to find information, explore opportunities and connect with us.
The redesigned homepage introduces a modern, flexible design that puts the people, ideas and impact of UW Engineering at the forefront. Through compelling imagery and storytelling, the new design highlights the students, faculty, researchers and partners advancing engineering education, discovery and innovation.
The updated navigation makes it easier for visitors to find the information most relevant to them. Informed by website analytics and usability studies, the new structure creates clearer pathways for key audiences, including prospective undergraduate, graduate and professional, and current students. The College’s unique multidisciplinary offerings, such as the recently launched Robotics M.S. and certificate, and industry partnerships are also more prominently featured, reflecting our evolving priorities and audience needs.
The changes are more than skin deep. The project also introduces significant improvements to the tools and systems used to build and maintain UW Engineering websites. An updated content management system and flexible, reusable page templates streamline the process of creating and updating content, making it easier for website editors across the College and departments to develop consistent, engaging and accessible webpages.
The launch of the homepage and navigation marks a significant project milestone, establishing a foundation for continued improvements over UW Engineering websites. Over the coming months, additional College webpages will be updated with streamlined content and new features, while department websites will begin adopting the updated designs. These improvements establish a foundation for extending the new design across the College's connected websites and supporting a more cohesive, yet flexible, digital experience.
