Certificates
UW Engineering certificate courses are application-focused, taught by expert faculty and developed in collaboration with industry leaders. Designed to fit your schedule and timeline, certificates provide targeted learning opportunities that maximize your time to build in-demand skills, further your knowledge or meet technical requirements.
Types of certificates
Our programs are built with flexibility in mind, tailored to your specific career goals. Professional certificates can serve as building blocks toward a future master’s degree or provide a recognized credential upon completion.

Affiliated certificates
Affiliated certificates are awarded by specific departments within the College of Engineering. These certificates can be taken as standalone credentials, or students can apply their graduate credits toward an existing master’s degree in the department. To earn credit, a student must enroll as a Graduate Non-Matriculated Student and work with a department adviser to ensure that credits apply.

Stackable Graduate Certificates
Stackable graduate certificates are designed to build toward specific stacked master’s degrees. Credits earned through these may apply to other master’s programs, but students must work with an adviser to discuss applying credits toward a non-stacked master’s degree. These certificates can also be standalone credentials.
