This marks an ABET accreditation for the College’s new Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering — which extends retroactively to October 1, 2023 — and reaccreditation for the other ten programs. Accreditation for all eleven programs lasts through September 30, 2032.
ABET accreditation assures that programs meet standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies and anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.
“This achievement reflects the strength of the College’s educational programs and the collective commitment of our faculty, staff, and students to engineering excellence,” says Nancy Allbritton, Frank and Julie Jungers Dean of Engineering. “We are especially proud that our electrical and computer engineering program has earned accreditation, signaling that it meets rigorous, nationally recognized standards for engineering education. This milestone demonstrates our dedication to student success and to continuous improvement across all our programs.”
Sought worldwide, ABET’s voluntary peer-review process is highly respected because it adds critical value to academic programs in the technical disciplines, where quality, precision and safety are of the utmost importance.
Developed by technical professionals from ABET’s member societies, ABET criteria focus on what students experience and learn. ABET accreditation reviews look at program curricula, faculty, facilities and institutional support and are conducted by teams of highly skilled professionals from industry, academia and government, with expertise in the ABET disciplines.
ABET currently accredits 4,773 programs at 930 colleges and universities in 41 countries and areas as of Oct. 1, 2024.
