April 28, 2026
The inaugural Engineering Program Enhancement Fee Request for Proposals (RFP) is now open. Proposals are due May 20, 2026. Students, faculty and staff across UW Engineering are invited to share their ideas.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
This funding is meant to support shared, student‑focused improvements. That includes ideas like:
- New or upgraded labs, shops and makerspaces
- Shared tools, equipment or industry‑standard software
- Hands‑on learning and experiential programs
- Technical, research or career‑readiness support
- Infrastructure that improves safety, access and equity
Priority will be given to ideas that benefit all engineering undergraduate students and projects that extend across departments.
Who can submit a proposal?
Undergraduate students, faculty and staff in the College of Engineering, UW Seattle campus, are eligible to submit applications.
Students are a key part of the process and are especially encouraged to help shape how new funding improves hands-on learning, labs, makerspaces and student support across engineering.

How are proposals chosen?
A committee made up of students, faculty and staff will review proposals and recommend a slate of projects to the Dean. Priority will be given to ideas that:
- Benefit the most engineering undergraduate students
- Support shared labs, makerspaces, equipment, or software
- Expand hands-on and experiential learning
- Strengthen technical, research, or career-readiness support
How will funding be tracked?
Funded projects will be tracked and reported publicly, so the UW Engineering community knows how the funds are spent and allocated.
Student voices matter more than ever
As we enter this first request for proposals, it is especially important that we hear from students. The way this process works now will shape how engineering resources are invested for years to come.
