College of Engineering COVID-19 Resources Digest - July 20, 2020

Greetings,

Thank you for your participation in the efforts to get us Back to Campus safely and efficiently. You will find an archive of past digests at our website.

With King and Pierce counties in Phase 2 of Governor Inslee’s Safe Start Plan, we have received many questions regarding the College of Engineering’s status. UW Seattle Campus is now in Phase 2, and the College of Engineering has begun the process of applying to Phase 2. An email from the dean’s office will be going out to chairs and administrators with more guidance early this week.

Returning to Campus

  • EH&S is offering a series of 90-minute webinars intended for UW personnel who are responsible for developing or implementing unit or site-specific COVID-19 prevention plans, including unit administrators, supervisors/managers and COVID-19 site supervisors. Each webinar will present similar content; registering for more than one webinar is not necessary, but optional. Register here.
    • Thursday, July 23 @ 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    • Thursday, July 30 @ 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
    • Wednesday, August 5 @ 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • On 7/17/2020, Gov. Inslee announced rollbacks to some aspects of Safe Start phases, limiting Phase 2 gathering sizes to no more than five, and Phase 3 gatherings to no more than 10.
  • As cases spike across the country, UW departments should determine surge levels for their PPE needs and identify thresholds for implementation of stricter non-pharmaceutical interventions.
    • PPE items are becoming more difficult to acquire due to case spikes. If your department or lab has issues procuring PPE (access, supply chain, etc) please contact the Dean’s office at coeinfo@uw.edu for assistance.
  • EH&S requires this online training for all persons on campus (faculty, staff, and students), even if they have already been working onsite as a critical employee, prior to returning to campus.
  • Daily attestations are required for all staff and academic personnel coming to campus.

Returning to School

  • Housing and Food Services (HFS) released the video Your Healthy Husky Home, outlining the actions that residential life staff are taking to ensure that on-campus housing meets current local, state and CDC guidelines for COVID-19.
  • The UW has convened a Back to School Task Force reviewing and updating University protocols for campus spaces including residences, classrooms, labs and libraries.
