College of Engineering COVID-19 Resources Digest - June 29, 2020

Greetings,

Thank you for your participation in the efforts to get us Back to Campus safely and efficiently. You will find an archive of past digests at our website.

With King and Pierce counties in Phase 2 of Governor Inslee’s Safe Start Plan, we have received many questions regarding the College of Engineering’s status. Though UW Seattle Campus is now in Phase 2, the College of Engineering has not yet applied to move from Phase 1. That means remote work is still required, with the exception of designated critical employees and applies to the College of Engineering and all related departments. We will let you know when we at the College of Engineering have been approved to move to Phase 2.

Returning to Campus

  • The College’s COVID-19 Working Group convened to discuss PPE requirements for Back to Research and Back to Work. Based on their feedback and working closely with staff, we at the College of Engineering are offering the following guidance for PPE. We will continue to release new and updated guidelines as situations evolve – please note that guidelines are subject to change.
    • Departments should continue to provide PPE to their staff and students for critical research and work needs. If you haven’t already, we recommend developing an ordering system that includes designating purchasers and selecting a procurement location (such as Ariba or the UW Storefront).
    • If your department has issues with access to either procurement options or supply chain limitations, please contact the dean’s office at coeinfo@uw.edu
    • The dean’s office will also make an effort to maintain a limited back-up supply of facial masks and cleaning/sanitizing supplies for departments experiencing unexpected shortages.
  • For access to the back-up supplies, please contact the Dean’s office at coeinfo@uw.edu
  • Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) requires this online training for all persons on campus (faculty, staff, and students), even if they have already been working onsite as a critical employee, prior to returning to campus - now with live voice narration.
  • Daily attestations are required for all staff and academic personnel coming to campus.
  • UW Facilities COVID-19 guidelines can now be found online – link going live at 3pm on 6/29
