Akshay Gadre joined Electrical & Computer Engineering in September from Carnegie Mellon University, where he completed his doctoral degree and worked as a wireless communications and mobile systems researcher at the WiTech Lab where he focused on improving the capabilities of low power Internet-of-Things (IoT) wireless technologies for smart cities and satellite connectivity.
With applications in forest-fire detection, supply chain sensing and real-time satellite monitoring, Gadre plans to continue his research in IoT sensing at the UW to explore new avenues in wireless, mobile and cyber-physical systems with an emphasis on space communication and sensing. With many publications and awards, Gadre’s honors include the ACM SIGBED-SIGSOFT Frank Anger Memorial Award.
