Deans Office and College Centers and Programs
For all users we support, we provide the following products under the UW's Microsoft Campus Agreement:
- Microsoft Windows operating systems
- Microsoft Office Professional (includes Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access)
- Microsoft Project, Publisher, and Visio
For select users, we provide:
- Adobe products (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, etc.)
- Macromedia products (Dreamweaver, Contribute, etc.)

College of Engineering Faculty, Staff, and Students
The following software is available only to faculty, staff, and students in the College of Engineering. Further restrictions may apply on individual titles. The College does not provide support or training in the use of these software applications.
Tecplot is used by engineers and scientists who need to create a wide
range of high-quality plots from simple XY plots to sophisticated 3-D
plots from data sets of up to millions of data points.

National Instruments' LabView ( order )
NI LabVIEW is the graphical development environment for creating flexible and scalable test, measurement, and control applications rapidly and at minimal cost. With LabVIEW, engineers and scientists interface with real-world signals, analyze data for meaningful information, and share results and applications. Regardless of experience, LabVIEW makes development fast and easy for all users.
The Maple library of procedures common to many scientific and engineering applications includes: linear algebra, number theory, statistics, group theory, linear optimization, differential forms, and student calculus.
- UW undergraduate students on University-owned equipment only
- UW faculty, staff, or graduate students on personal equipment
- There is no charge for the software
- The license is perpetual as long as the user is eligible
Mathematica (more info | order | installation guide)
Mathematica reads lines of input, waiting until a syntactically complete expression has been entered, then evaluates the expression.
- The College of Engineering and Arts and Sciences purchased this site license for the period through 6/30/2008. The College of Engineering distributes user/system licenses to qualifying individuals
- Faculty and academic staff may use the software on their home machines at no cost unless they are currently enrolled as a student
- No cost for installation on University-owned equipment
- Students may purchase the Mathematica Student Version from the University Bookstore
- Upon expiration of the license agreement on 6/30/2008, all use of the software under this agreement must cease. Users will be able to convert to individual licenses for a fee
MATLAB (more info | price list | order | installation guide)
MATLAB integrates numerical analysis, matrix computation, signal processing, and graphics in an easy-to-use environment where problems and solutions are expressed just as they are written mathematically, without traditional programming.
- Matlab purchase is limited to UW faculty and staff with appointments in academic, degree-granting units. Students are not eligible.
- Purchases can be made using a UW budget number. Credit cards, check, or other forms of payment are not accepted.
- Matlab and any toolboxes purchased under this program are to be used solely in support of classroom instruction and research activities.
- The right to use MATLAB or any toolboxes available through this program for commercial purposes is expressly excluded.
- Note: Licenses available through this program renew each September regardless of the purchase date. Each license will terminate and the software included in this program will stop operating after expiraton of the subscription term unless renewed by the user. The amount of the license renewal fees will be provided to the user in advance of the renewal date and license expiration.
Mathtype (more info, including how to download)
- Currently registered UW students, faculty and staff are eligible to use MathType software.
- There is no charge for the software.
- The site license is provided by the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering.
