About UWWI

The University of Washington Women's Initiative (UWWI) was started in the fall of 2006. We began our outreach program by adapting the model used by the successful MIT Women's Initiative. Their program involves presentations given by college women studying engineering to high schools around the country with the goal to educate pre-college girls about a career in engineering. We used this idea to create a local outreach program, targeting high school and middle school age girls in the Seattle Area. We are in our third year of development, and have visited over 300 girls in the area.
