Ji-Eun Kim begins this fall as an assistant professor in Industrial & Systems Engineering. She recently completed her Ph.D. at The Pennsylvania State University modeling, estimating human performance under time-pressure and generating operational policies by examining physiological, psychological and behavioral responses of individuals.
At the UW, she plans to continue her research analyzing human factors in areas such as healthcare, engineering education, manufacturing and operations research to improve workers’ performance and satisfaction. Her work is rooted in her previous study of cognitive neuroscience which was funded by government agencies and industry partners. Before joining Penn State, she worked for the Korea Institute of Science of Technology on a project to develop biomedical robots that automatically respond to users’ muscular signals.
