Raising the bar on research

Pushing technology and knowledge to new heights requires a wide platform of expertise on which to build. By encouraging collaboration and tackling the tough engineering problems of our time, the College of Engineering is experiencing explosive growth-not only in funding but in patents, inventions and the advancement of basic science. Our multidisciplinary approach to research is producing spectacular results and leading the world in the fields of bioengineering, genomics, photonics and many others. Working side-by-side with faculty and industry, our students are learning how to predict earthquakes, build fuel cells and save lives through prevention and medicine. We're discovering ways to improve our quality of life while reducing our impact on the environment. Together, we're asking big questions and finding that the answers are changing our perceptions of what's possible.
