Each of robotics, controls, and mechatronics is a topic that spans multiple University departments. Robotics, for example, includes substantial components of mechanical design, kinematics, dynamics, instrumentation, control, estimation, man-machine interface design, and embedded (computing) system design. Consequently, at any given time instruction and research that pertains to robotics will be ongoing in the Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and the Computer Science and Engineering Departments.
This site serves as a focal point for information on robotics, controls, and mechatronics activities at the University of Washington. The intended audience is former, current, and perspective students and faculty who are interested in robotics, controls, or mechatronics. First, the site provides information on the many courses at the University that are of interest to this community. These include courses in the Aeronautics and Astronautics, Applied Mathematics, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering Departments. And second, it provides information on the faculty and students on the University campus who are interesed in robotics, controls or mechatronics and on their pending, on-going and recently completed research projects.
