Helpful Tips for Attendees
- Lost or misplaced kids should be directed to the Open House Welcome Tent outside Loew Hall.
- Wear Name Tags - all groups are encouraged to wear name tags with students name and school. This is essential in assisting us with lost kids as well as assisting us with kids that might be misbehaving in the various buildings. We have unfortunately had problems in the past with vandolism and if we were able to note which school these students came from, we would be able to report back to the teachers. Thank you for your assistance with this.
- Chaperones - the more chaperones the better. Depending on the age of students, there should be at least one chaperone to every 10 students.
- Individuals and groups tour the Open House on their own utilizing the open house program, map, and via directional signs. There is no particular order for which you should visit exhibits.
- The Open House program and map will be available during the event at Loew Hall. Mid-April it will be available via the web at the Exhibits List link.
- Do I attend Friday or Saturday? You can attend either day, whichever works best in your schedule. Note, however, that Friday attendees tend to be school field trips and Saturday attendees tend to be families, alumni, and the community. Friday is generally a much busier day and very crowded.
- How much time is required to visit the Open House? If you would like to visit every exhibit (over 100), you are encouraged to give yourself at least 4 hours. If you are on a tight schedule, planning in advance is encouraged and you should generally focus your attention on those departments of most interest.
- Planning in Advance: Individuals are encouraged to check the 2008 Exhibits List mid April 2008 and decide which exhibits/departments are of most interest to you.
- Bring rain gear. Although most exhibits are inside, Seattle weather is unpredictable and you will be moving between buildings to visit exhibits.
- Wear good shoes. There is a lot of walking that takes place at the Open House between the various engineering buildings.
- The HUB is a great place to get food, snacks and drink. There are plenty of lawns near the Open House exhibits for picnic lunches if the weather is good. Click here for more information.
