Graduate students traveled to help nonprofits in African villages and Brazilian rainforests use the device. Recently, Google awarded $1.35 million to the project.

Gates Foundation funds technology to measure micronutrients in malnourished populations
A grant from The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will help UW bioengineers and chemical engineers develop a portable, inexpensive device to detect nutrient deficiencies in settings with scarce resources.
