D.C. Travel Matching
Developing and managing relationships with program managers is an important element in successful grantsmanship. The College would like to encourage such efforts.
The Dean's office will match funds from departments to help defray the cost for young faculty just developing their research program or faculty who have been out of research for some time to meet with program managers in Washington D.C. Follow the Procedures for Requesting Matching Funds, considering the following criteria.
Criteria for funding awards:
- The faculty member has not made such a trip in the past few years, or a new trip is warranted by recent developments.
- The faculty member does not have a strong grant funding history within the past few years.
For such trips it is important that the faculty member is helped by a mentor so appropriate materials are in hand when presenting their work and ideas.
Trips should cost $1,100 or less:
- Contract airfare to D.C. - approximately $450 RT.
- Maximum 2 day stay - per diem rate $275 each day.
- Airport transportation - approximately $100.
Travel requests should come from the department chair and can be sent to Mari Ostendorf at Box 352180 or by email (contact info at right).
