Space/Remodeling Matching
For all College of Engineering proposals that request additional space and/or remodel costs, the Principal Investigator must provide, in addition to a compelling justification for the need of the proposed space or remodeling, a 1-page document or spreadsheet that provides the following information:
- Specific locations (building and room numbers) and size (assignable square feet) of existing space being used along with which unit (department, center, institute, Dean’s office, etc.) controls the assignment of that space. The PI must provide verification of this space via a confirming e-mail from the head of the unit(s) that control the existing space.
- Specific locations (building and room numbers) and size (assignable square feet) of new space being requested along with which unit (department, center, institute, Dean’s office, etc.) controls the assignment of that space. The PI must provide verification of this space via a confirming e-mail from the head of the unit(s) that control the requested new space.
- Breakdown of remodel items requested and their estimated costs (repainting, electrical work, cooling, wall modifications, etc.). The Dean’s office can assist with developing cost estimates for remodels.
The above information must be provided to the CoE Associate Dean for Infrastructure before the eGC-1 can be approved by CoE. The lead time required depends on the complexity of the request:
| Type of request | Required lead time before submission of the eGC-1 |
|---|---|
| Space outside of CoE control | at least 90 days |
| Space within CoE control | at least 60 days |
| Modest remodeling within CoE controlled space | at least 30 days |
Complex and extensive requests should provide additional advance notification.
