College of Engineering Photo Gallery

About Gallery

Gallery is a web-based, indexed library of images collected by CoE Marketing and Communications, and available to all members of the CoE community. Intended as a repository of images that have current relevance or historical value, Gallery will serve as a resource for both marketing and reference for CoE programs, departments, and centers.

Gallery is accessible by UW NetID at https://images.engr.washington.edu.

Content

Gallery contains photos and images from research labs, buildings, past events, media pieces, and various other photo shoots and collections. Although the image library is far from complete, we have created the organizational infrastructure and made a good start adding and labeling photos.

Usage

Photos in Gallery are available for the use of the entire College of Engineering. However, please be sure to check each image for usage and copyright information (found in the image description) and ensure they are used and credited properly.

Organization & Searching

The photos in Gallery are organized into individual albums and subalbums. Department photos are organized by department and then by categories (Alumni, Events, Faculty, People at Research, Research Centers, Proj. & Labs, Research Images, Building) and then by further subcategories and photo sets. College of Engineering photos are organized by categories (Alumni, Deans, Events, Donors & Sponsors, Images from UW Publications, Loew Hall, Programs & Projects, Staff, Stock Images, Students, UW Campus), and then by further subcategories and photo sets.

Many photos are tagged with keywords so you can use the search function on the top right of the screen to locate relevant photos. Gallery also accommodates partial word searching (e.g., chem*).

Adding New Images

We would be happy to add any photos or video you would like to make available on Gallery. Please limit any additions to those from the past two years or of historical relevance. If a photo looks dated, it probably won’t be useful unless it has historical significance.

Uploads are limited to files in the jpeg, png, and gif formats for images and mp4 and flv for video. You will need to convert any other file type to these formats in order to have them added to the site.

There are two ways to add photos to Gallery:

Adding Photos via CollectIt

Upload photos quickly and easily through our CollectIt Dropbox. Log in with your UW NetID and select a department. Upload your photo and describe it in the comments section. Be sure to include the file name, description, and related keywords.

Sending Photos by Email

All photos for addition to Gallery should be accompanied by a completed Gallery Adds spreadsheet, which collects album location, photo credit, image title, description, and keyword information.
