Ford and Osberg Fellowships

The application deadline for 2011-2012 scholarships was February 18, 2011.

Engineering departments are invited to nominate qualified graduate students for Ford and Osberg fellowships. Fellowships are to be used in the 2011-2012 academic year.

Ford Motor Company Fellowship—1 fellowship, $25,000

  • Nominees should be predoctoral students who are performing research related to micro-sensor technologies and problems that would be of interest to the Ford Company.
  • Donor's preference is that recipients have a permanent right to work in the United States.
  • Award will cover resident graduate tuition and a stipend with graduate medical insurance.

Osberg Fellowship—1 fellowship, $25,000

  • Nominees should be College of Engineering graduate students who have graduated from high school in the United States.
  • Selection should be based on academic merit.
  • Donor's preference is that recipient be on Ph.D. track with long-range goal of career in academia.
  • Award will cover resident graduate tuition and a stipend with graduate medical insurance.

Additional Requirements for Both Fellowships

  1. Nomination packets must include current funding and funding history for nominees.
  2. Recipients of RAs/TAs are not eligible.

The Council on Educational Policy will review the nomination packets and select the recipients for each fellowship in early March. All nominees and departments will be notified once a decision has been made.
