The Intel Corporation and the College of Engineering are collaborating to offer undergraduate research opportunities to students and connect faculty with outstanding students to asisist in their research labs. The Intel REU program is designed to introduce diverse population students to opportunities in research and graduate school in engineering. Authentic, hands-on research experience provided by engineering faculty is the centerpiece of the program!

Information for Students

The Research Experience for Undergraduates Program, sponsored by the Intel Corporation, offers University of Washington, Seattle campus students the ability to contribute to the UW College of Engineering research community.  Intel REU can take place part-time throughout the academic year or full-time over the summer. Students work directly with faculty and graduate students in an engineering research lab either at the University of Washington or at the Intel Corporation Seattle Research lab.

Intel REU is designed to introduce students to the research environment and the possibilities in pursuing graduate school. Another mission is to contribute to the retention of women and underrepresented American population students interested in pursuing degrees in engineering. Throughout the Intel REU experience, students contribute directly to the university community and are an integral part of their research team.

Information for Faculty

The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program is sponsored by the Intel Corporation and is designed to connect faculty with top engineering students to work part-time throughout the academic year or full-time during the summer in your research lab. The Engineering Advising and Diversity Center manages the program and can assist you by identifying (and possibly funding) a top undergraduate engineering student suitable for your lab.

Intel REU students are selected based upon a rigorous application process. Selected students have a competitive grade point average, are interested in the research community and graduate school. In addition, the Intel REU program aims to contribute to the retention of women and underrepresented American population students interested in pursuing degrees in engineering and graduate school.

If you have a research project suitable for a highly motivated undergraduate engineering student, the Engineering Advising and Diversity Center can find you a student to contribute to your research lab! Please contact Dawn Wiggin wiggin@engr.washington.edu to get started.
