In 2006 the University of Washington received a grant from the National Science Foundation ADVANCE program (grant SBE-0619159) to offer a series of national leadership workshops for science, engineering, and mathematics department chairs and emerging faculty leaders. LEAD was created as a result of this grant.
As part of the grant, the University of Washington identified several other institutions who can provide feedback and ideas for the workshops. These partner institutions include:
Arizona State University
Spelman College
Clark Atlanta University
Howard University.
