Ali Farhadi joins Computer Science & Engineering from the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University where he was a postdoctoral fellow. His work is focused on computer vision and machine learning, and he has made significant contributions to computer vision, specifically in the improvement of object recognition algorithms. Other areas of his work include cross-category generalization, and transfer learning applications for human activity and object recognition.
Ali received the Best Student Paper Award at the IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. His other awards include the inaugural Google Fellowship in computer vision and image interpretation, and the University of Illinois’ C.W. Gear Award.
