Introduction to Pavement Management System Course Faculty: Paul Sachs 1.4 CEUs/14 PDHs/14 PDHs A comprehensive pavement management system (PMS) is the key to better reconstruction, restoration and maintenance decision making. An operating PMS provides agency management with the ability to better plan and manage highway, street, and road pavements This two-day course is designed as an introduction for those new to pavement management and as a refresher for those with more experience in the field. Some of the topics covered in the course include pavement management basics, federal and state guidelines, and how to implement a pavement management system. Participants will have an opportunity to work on workshop modules throughout
the course. These "How to" modules will cover such activities
as "How to break a pavement network into manageable segments;"
"How to set up a pavement condition survey;" and "How to
develop a pavement management presentation to a city or county policy
board." At the conclusion of the course, participants will have the
information needed to successfully implement a pavement management system. Schedule of upcoming TRANSPEED courses.
Public agency planning, engineering and maintenance personnel and managers who plan, design, construct, or maintain roadway pavements will benefit from this course.
