KNOWLEDGE FOR THE SALISH SEA: TOWARD COLLABORATIVE TRANSBOUNDARY SOLUTIONS

2007 Georgia Basin Puget Sound Research Conference

Vancouver, British Columbia
March 26–29, 2007

The Georgia Basin Action Plan partners and the Puget Sound Action Team hosted the successful 2007 Georgia Basin Puget Sound Research Conference, March 26-29, 2007 at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver, BC.

Over 900 persons attended this premier research conference focusing on the transboundary regions of the Georgia Basin and Puget Sound. The event drew scientists, First Nations and tribal government representatives, resource managers, community leaders, policy makers, educators and students together to share scientific information concerning the condition and management of the shared Georgia Basin Puget Sound region. The event featured oral presentations, workshops, posters, special evening events, and guest plenary speakers.

We thank presenters, session chairs, advisory committee members and conference sponsors for working together to present another successful conference in 2007!

Thank You

We thank the Squamish First Nation, the Coast Salish First Nations and Western Washington tribes for hosting the Coast Salish traditional dinner for Research Conference delegates on Wednesday, March 28.

GOING GREEN

As part of its efforts to keep the Georgia Basin Puget Sound region healthy, this year’s conference made extra efforts to be environmentally friendly.  Conference organizers implemented various green strategies such as minimizing the use of paper and encouraging attendees to commute to the conference by bus. more...
