You are invited to attend the 2000 NSF Design and Manufacturing Research Conference to be held in Vancouver, Canada on January 3-6, 2000.

The Conference will feature current research relating to design and manufacturing and will provide a forum for representatives of academe, industry, and government to meet and share results of existing research programs and to influence the direction of future research and engineering curricula.This conference provides a focused gathering of the best design and manufacturing research in North America. Participants are afforded a truly unique opportunity to discuss with researchers the leading edge work that is being pursued.

The Conference offers workshops for proposal writing and a forum for interacting with NSF program directors. Representatives from industry are particularly encouraged to participate. National laboratories are invited to team with academic and industrial laboratories.

NSF grantees in the area of design and manufacturing will present poster papers in daily poster sessions. Other highlights of the conference will include invited talks from government officials and industry leaders, forums for interacting with NSF Program Directors, proposal writing workshops for academic institutions and for small businesses, and afternoon technical tours.

Instructions for Authors

(Note to authors: submissions will not be accepted after the Nov. 8 extended deadline.)

Current grantees (NSF, NSERC, NRC, CONACyT) are invited to submit papers. All NSF grantees are expected to submit a paper (progress report) outlining the objective, approach and the accomplishments to date. Papers will be published in the conference proceedings and will be scheduled for a poster presentation. The Proceedings will be produced on a CD-ROM. Space permits only one paper per grant.

Authors should submit the following:

  1. A .pdf document of up to 1 MB in size including all graphics. If you are unable to prepare a pdf file, please submit your paper as a MS Word or WordPerfect document for Windows or Mac. (Please restrict filenames to eight characters or less [plus a three character extension] and use the last name of the P.I. in the filename. Do not use the name of the conference in the filename.)
  2. Author fact sheet for each paper.
