Speaker Instructions

Invited talks vary in length. Please consult the Speaker Session schedule for exact length. Please note that at least 5 minutes of your allotted time should be dedicated to audience discussion. Given the number of talks within each session and the full conference schedule that has been arranged, each session chair will be asked to keep speakers strictly to their allotted time.

Please provide your PowerPoint presentation on the morning of your session to the symposium registration desk in the Walker Ames Room between 7:45-8:15 a.m. (suggested), or take it directly to the session room - Room 130 - in the break prior to your assigned session. Speakers should alert the audio visual staff to the existence of complex, animated graphics and video clips and check that they run correctly on the conference computer. We recommend that for safety, you bring your presentation in several formats (i.e. Flash drive and DVD).Your Session Chair will be responsible for ensuring that all presentation materials are collected prior to the beginning of your session.

Audiovisual Equipment

The session room will be equipped with a data projector, laser pointer, and a PC computer. The computer will be running on Windows 2000 Professional and will be loaded with Office 2000 (MS Office XP Professional (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Access)), Windows Media Player, Quicktime and Real Player. It will have a CD/DVD-ROM drive and USB ports for flash drives. You should bring your computer presentation on a CD-ROM or flash drive so it can be loaded onto the provided computer. Please make sure your presentation media is clearly labeled with your name and session title/time.

PLEASE NOTE:  We are unable to accommodate the use of personal laptop computers. We will attempt to accommodate other special equipment upon request; any such request should be sent to Stacy White at stacyw@u.washington.edu ASAP.

Speaker Ready Room

The speaker ready room will be located on the Mezzanine level of Kane Hall.  To get to the room you must take the elevator located on the first floor between rooms 110 and 120.  The speaker ready room will have a computer that is loaded with the same software that is on the session computer.  You are encouraged to test your presentation prior to your session.
