Abstract : We present substorm sequences of the global ion distribution in the 16-~100 keV range. The ion distributions are derived from the ENA measurements by the IMAGE/HENA imager through a linear inversion technique. We show a particular example of a so-called growth phase dropout during which the ion flux in the plasmasheet decreases gradually as the tail field stretches. We discuss the interpretation of this phenomena. One interpretation could be that the convection from the magnetotail to the inner plasmasheet is choked due to the electric field induced by the stretching of the tail. We also discuss examples of how much storm-time substorm injections contribute to the build up of the storm-time ring current.
