Short Abstract: A new numerical procedure has been used to performed direct numerical simulation of a stabilized premixed flame in a spatially decaying turbulence. This method has been developed for fully compressible subsonic flows. Attention is confined to premixed turbulent combustion in the laminar flamelet regime. In these circumstances, reacting flow models can be tested for all pressure fluctuation covariances that are known to play a crucial role in the second moment closure of the averaged equations of turbulents flows. Models, which are applicable to the thin laminar flamelet regime of premixed combustion, are based on the BML formalism. Direct numerical simulation of the premixed flame is then used to assess the validity of models. Good agreement is found between the model expressions and pressure fluctuation covariances evaluated from DNS.
