Reception at the Pacific
Science Center
Seattle's Pacific Science Center has been reserved for a special BMES 2000
reception on Friday evening, October 13. Explore science, mathematics and
technology through hands-on and interactive exhibits and enjoy the opportunity
to socialize with your colleagues. Continuous round-trip transportation
will be provided. The Pacific Science Center is located on the grounds of
the Seattle Center (former fairgrounds of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair)
in the northern area of downtown Seattle. This event is complimentary with
conference or guest registration.
Optional Event: Puget Sound Cruise and
Salmon Dinner at Tillicum Village
An evening cruise and salmon barbecue dinner is scheduled for Saturday,
October 14. The excursion boat will depart from the Seattle waterfront.
Participants will enjoy a relaxing 45 minute cruise accross Elliott Bay
to Tillicum Village on the shores of Blake Island. Tillicum Village offers
a buffet dinner featuring fresh, Pacific salmon prepared on cedar stakes
over an alder fire in the traditional method of the Northwest Coastal Tribes.
Following dinner in the "longhouse" is a Native American dance
performance. The return cruise highlights Seattle's nighttime skyline. Chartered
buses will provide round-trip transportation between the hotel and the waterfront.
Tickets: $60 each.
