Location
The conference will be held on the University of Washington campus in Seattle. Seattle is known for its scenic beauty, temperate
climate, and abundant cultural and recreational opportunities. The Puget
Sound region offers many opportunities for recreation and sight-seeing.
The Olympic Mountains to the west and the Cascade Mountains to the east
provide a spectacular setting for the city. Just north of downtown Seattle,
the University of Washington campus occupies 684 acres bordering Lake Washington.
The conference headquarters, nearby restaurants, shops, and services are
all within comfortable walking distance.
Seattle Weather
Summer temperatures
in Seattle are generally mild. The average daytime high temperature
in August is 74 F (23 C) and the average nighttime low temperature is 54
F (12 C).
Use of Fitness Facilities on Campus
Individuals attending the conference will be able to use the campus fitness
facilities for a nominal fee (to be announced). Admission will be allowed
upon showing the front desk your conference name badge. Check our campus

Lodging
Campus Housing
Sleeping rooms in campus residence halls have been reserved for conference
participants. Residence halls are located in close proximity to meeting
and dining facilities. The four-night package starts Sunday, August 2 and
will include a full breakfast Monday through Thursday. The package cost
is $175.00 per person for a single occupancy room and $125.00 per person
for a double occupancy room. Additional nights lodging before or after the
package dates are also available.
All rooms are furnished with twin beds, bed linens, blankets, pillows and
towels; rooms are serviced each day. There are no private bathroom facilities.
Televisions are located in the lounges. Residence halls are equipped with
elevators and coin-operated laundry facilities.
Please use the conference registration form to reserve campus housing.

| Conference participants are strongly encouraged to make hotel reservations
early. Hotel room availability during the first week of August is extremely
limited due to the annual city-wide Seafair activities. To reserve a room,
please contact the hotel directly by telephone, mail, or fax. When
making your reservation, it is important to identify yourself as a participant
of the Earthquake Engineering Conference. Rates listed are subject
to additional state and local taxes. |
