Over 350 participants attended the 1999 IEEE IEMDC in Seattle. This conference is sponsored by the Power Engineering, Industry Applications, and Power Electronics Societies in response to the need for an IEEE international conference on electric machines and drives.

IEMDC99 Conference Headquarters was Cavanaugh's on Fifth Avenue in downtown Seattle.

Technical Program

The IEMDC99 technical program featured three days of technical and poster sessions (Monday through Wednesday) and three Sunday tutorials. The Technical Program Committee selected papers for presentation and organized the 1999 Technical Program.

Tutorials

Three tutorials, organized by the IEMDC99 Technical Program Committee, were presented on Sunday, May 9, 1999.

Hydro Generation Workshop

This workshop gave participants a hands-on update on operation and maintenance; machine condition monitoring and advanced diagnostic techniques; machine upgrades; and applied new technologies.

A full buffet breakfast was served on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The Organizing Committee planned breakfast to continue the IEMDC tradition of offering a longer breakfast time slot, allowing a relaxed and daily opportunity for discussion time with colleagues. Breakfasts included with registration.
