Hydro Generation Workshop
in conjunction with
IEEE IEMDC'99
Preliminary agenda
This May, when IEEE has its International Electric Motors
and Drives Conference, May 9-12 in Seattle, Washington at Cavannaugh's on
Fifth Avenue, a Hydrogenerator Workshop will be part of the program. This
workshop, presented on May 11 and 12, will assist engineers responsible
for hydrogenerator operations and maintenance. The objective of the Hydrogenerator
Workshop is to give the attendees an opportunity to learn more about hydrogenerator
operation, maintenance, monitoring and diagnostics, automation and new technologies.
Workshop sessions, taught by people with day-to-day, hands-on machine experience,
will build upon one another, with sessions devoted to each major machine
component. Each component session will start with a review of key technical
principles and their application in addressing various operational issues,
followed by related case study presentations. Technical grounding will be
provided by electrical engineer Jim Edmonds of MCM Enterprise Ltd. and mechanical
engineer Bill Moore of National Electric Coil, both of whom have chaired
and organized numerous technical sessions and workshops for IEEE and ASME,
respectively. Case studies will provide related information based on at
experiences on actual projects, presented either from the customer's or
vendor's perspectives or both.
