UW Educational Outreach including UW Extension, UW Evening Degree Programs, English Language Programs and Summer Quarter serves over 30,000 students each year. Many UW Extension certificate programs are in engineering and engineering-related fields. Because several of these programs are available via distance learning, EDGE and UWEO collaborate closely on course and program development and delivery.
UWired supports the integration of technology and education through several initiatives. Among these are:
- Catalyst The Catalyst set of tools provide many opportunities for online commuincation and collaboration. EDGE uses several Catalyst tools in its courses.
- Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology The CTLT provides hands-on support and Catalyst training to instructors who want to integrate new technology into their courses.
The Office of Educational Assessment administers student evaluation of teaching and the role of technology in student learning.
