Masters Degree in Manufacturing Engineering
Students enrolled in the University of Washington Master's Program in Manufacturing Engineering will earn, upon matriculation, a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) degree. This program provides an interdisciplinary engineering degree with specialization in Manufacturing Engineering. The degree's emphasis is on providing education in integrated systems of manufacturing including, but not limited to, large scale systems and integration of product design with manufacturing processes.
As this is an interdisciplinary program, the Manufacturing Engineering Program Steering Committee is made up of faculty from five different departments in the College of Engineering.
This educational program is provided via modern distance education. Delivery is provided by the University of Washington's Education at a Distance for Growth and Excellence (EDGE) program, which has been operating since 1983. EDGE serves many companies and 200 plus students every quarter with up to 30 classes, and has the necessary experience and resources to deliver a program of this magnitude. Additionally, substantial student support is available through staff support, on-site faculty, on-site teaching assistants, and academic advisors (at least two faculty members who can help guide long term plans of study, provide quarter by quarter approval, and assist on-site).
