Course Access
Offering 50-60 courses per year, EDGE provides a wide selection in flexible delivery formats. Students access course materials in a variety of ways, including:
Video Access Options
Live Streaming Video -- Participate in class in real time by logging on during the on-campus session. In some cases, you will be able to call into the classroom to ask questions or add your comments.
Video-On-Demand -- Within two hours of class (usually less), the video file will be posted for online viewing. Each class session will remain on the server throughout the quarter. Depending on your network connection speed, choose either the 384 kilobits per second (Kbps) or 56 Kbps version.
FTP -- Using a file transfer protocol program on your computer, you can download the entire video file for later viewing. These files are large (approximately 100 MB per hour of content), so beware of long download times. Not recommended for a 56K modem connection.
CD-ROM/Videotape Delivery -- If none of the above options works for you, we will send you either CD-ROMs or videotapes of each class session. Contact the EDGE Office to set up this service. A rental fee may apply. Check for the latest information on the EDGE Fees and Billing page.
Other Web Resources
Course Web Page -- Each course has a web page as a central location for course information and announcements. Visit the EDGE Class Materials Page to find your course web page.
Handouts/Assignments -- Many professors distribute handouts and give information about exams and assignments through the course web site. Homework is usually submitted through the EDGE office so it can be tracked.
Discussion Boards -- Each course has a class discussion board where students can interact with their professor, teaching assistant and/or other students.
