Mentoring Programs (Undergraduate and Graduate) Program Website

Description:

Undergraduate - WISE mentoring programs offer a variety of skill-building workshops aimed at career development, personal skill-building, and professional networking where mentees and mentors receive training on successful mentoring strategies. WISE mentoring programs for undergraduates include:

• The Pre-Major program provides peer mentoring for female pre-majors
• The Professional Mentoring program offers pre-professional mentoring for female undergraduates pairing them with professional engineers and research scientists
• The Ford Motor Company E-mentoring program that pairs current UW engineering students with UW Engineering alum currently working as Ford in Michigan.

Graduate - The Center for Workforce Development (CWD) offers a Graduate Student Mentoring Program where science and engineering graduate students (men and women) at both the masters and doctoral levels can elect to be matched with either an academic or industry mentor interested in helping students grow academically, professionally, and personally.

Ways to collaborate:

• Faculty can work with CWD to set up a mentoring program with their target student population.
• Faculty can serve as mentors for students.

Costs:

• The cost for providing these services ranges from $15K - $100K (depending on services) and includes staff time, student, and equipment costs.
