ABOUT CWD
The Center for Workforce Development (CWD) at the University of Washington works to diversify the global engineering and science workforce and to establish partnerships with industry, education and government.
CWD designs and implements strategies to advance underrepresented workers in STEM (science, technology, enigineering, mathematics). CWD provides mentoring programs, conducts research on the STEM workforce, assesses educational climates, and evaluates programs designed to increase the representation of diverse groups in these fields.
CWD offers several mentoring options for University of Washington students. If you are a UW graduate student or faculty, or work in the nanotechnology industry, you can find out more at CWD MENTORING.
For undergraduate students, CWD administers the GLOBAL E3 PROGRAM, an international exchange program specifically for engineering students.
CWD also evaluates the educational and workplace climate for various disciplines. CWD conducts its own research at the local, national, and international levels and incorporates the most up-to-date findings into its programs and services. Find out more about CWD’s current RESEARCH and EVALUATION activities and PREVIOUS work, or read CWD PUBLICATIONS.
As a university organization, CWD has access to the world's foremost authorities on diversifying the workforce. Our unique perspective focuses on the whole workforce while providing special expertise in the areas of under-represented, under-utilized categories of workers.
