Emerging Leaders
Emerging Leaders in Engineering Scholarships are awarded to students who are selected to participate in the Emerging Leaders in Engineering Program. The Program is designed to help undergraduate engineering students develop their leadership abilities through practical experience and personal reflection.
Eligibility Requirements
The Emerging Leaders in Engineering application is open to current and newly admitted UW undergraduate students who expect to be registered full time (at least 12 credits) during the award period and pursuing a bachelor's degree in the College of Engineering at the UW (Seattle campus).
Review Process
All complete and eligible applications are reviewed by a scholarship selection committee and candidates are evaluated based, in part, on their demonstrated leadership potential. Current UW students who have meaningfully participated in a College of Engineering student society, club, organization, Co-Op or research lab as well as Direct Freshman Admits are also encouraged to apply.
Expectations of ELE Participants
Award recipients must continue to be actively engaged in the Emerging Leaders in Engineering Program and remain full-time undergraduate students in the College of Engineering at UW during their award period. Award recipients must maintain a 3.00 GPA during their award period. Students will also be required to register for the associated 1-credit Leadership class series during Fall, Winter and Spring quarters. Students unable to meet these requirements may forfeit their place in the program and the accompanying scholarship.
