Active Directory

The College Computing Services department supports a shared Active Directory domain for use throughout the College of Engineering.

CCS maintains and operates the domain controllers and enforces some domain-wide policies.

The domain also includes accounts for all students currently enrolled in Engingeering courses. These accounts are further organized into Groups based on course enrollment (one group per course). The accounts are "mapped" to the UW Kerberos realm so students may use NetIDs to authenticate to the domain. The accounts and group memberships are updated each quarter and periodically synchronized to ensure they are current.

Departmental and research group IT staff may request access to the domain for the computers they manage. CCS will create a seprate OU for the group and delegate administrative privileges for that OU.
