Recognition of Exceptional Achievement
- Mary Lidstrom, Professor in Chemical Engineering and Associate Dean of New Initiatives for the College of Engineering, was recently one of twenty academic
scientists in the nation to receive a $1 million grant fromthe Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). As one of only two HMMI professors with an engineering focus, this award signifies her creative approach to integrating biology with the engineering curriculum and continued promotion of innovation in undergraduate education.
- Cindy Atman, Professor of Industrial Engineering, andDirector of the Center for Engineering, Learning and Teaching, was selected as the recipient of the American Society of Engineering Education’s (ASEE) “Chester F. Carlson Award for Innovation in Engineering Education.” This award signifies Professor Atman’s significant contribution to engineering education through her motivation and ability to extend beyond the accepted tradition.
- The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the NSF’s most prestigious awards for new faculty members. CAREER awardees are selected on the basis of creative, career development plans that effectively integrate research and education within the context of the mission of their institutions. This year, we recognized NSF CAREER Award Recipients from 2001 - 2003.
