Faculty Innovator for Teaching

Nominee Eligibility:

Nominees must be a faculty member whose home department(s) is within the College of Engineering.

Nominee Criteria:

Nominees should:

  1. Demonstrate outstanding contributions to engineering education through:
    1. Exemplary scholarship
    2. Innovative and lasting contributions to engineering education
      1. For example: through curriculum or teaching techniques
    3. High level commitment to students both in and outside of the classroom;
    4. Understanding and appreciation for the work of engineers
  2. Show evidence of internal and external impact on long-term, pervasive approaches to improving the educational process
Additional support:
Nominations should include up to three (3) letters of support
 

Faculty Innovator for Research

Nominee Eligibility:

Nominees must be a faculty member whose home department(s) is within the College of Engineering

Nominee criteria:

Nominees should:

  1. Exemplify excellence in scholarship and research through:
    1. Extraordinary contributions and dedication to research
    2. New and innovative research programs
    3. Encouraging and supporting student research
    4. Innovative approaches in research, scholarship or creative activities
  2. Show that research results contribute to the expansion of knowledge or improving quality of life.
  3. Hold distinction as a scholar as demonstrated through publications, memberships in prestigious professional organizations, and invited lectures and papers.
Additional support:
Nominations should include up to three (3) letters of support
 

Teaching Assistant Innovator

 
Nominee Eligibility:

Nominees must:

  1. Have held a Teaching Assistant position in the past 12 months.
Nominee criteria:

Nominees should:

  1. Demonstrate exemplary teaching, demonstrated by:
    1. Enthusiasm for the subject and ability to arouse student interest
    2. Original and innovative approaches in the classroom
    3. Encouraging interaction with and among students
  2. Show dedication to quality of the learning experience by collaboratively working with professors to ensure that students’ needs, interests, and problems are addressed.
  3. Demonstrate concern with intellectual growth for both self and students.

Nominations should include up to three (3) letters of support
 

Research Assistant Innovator

 
Nominee Eligibility:

Nominees must:

  1. Have held a Research Assistant position in the past 12 months.
Nominee Criteria:

Nominees should:

  1. Demonstrate merit in scholarship and research through:
    1. Extraordinary research and maintaining a high level of dedication to research
    2. Using innovative approaches in research, scholarship or creative activities
  2. Show evidence of continued professional growth and achievement
Additional support:
Nominations should include up to three (3) letters of support
 

Staff Innovator

 
Nominee Eligibility:

Nominees must:

  1. Be a permanent classified or professional staff member (Research engineers should be included in the professional staff category)
  2. Employed at least six months in the College of Engineering.
Nominee Criteria:

Nominees should:

  1. Have significant impact on his/her department or the College of Engineering through:
    1. Excellent customer service
    2. Competence and expertise
    3. Consistency and diligence
    4. Resourcefulness
    5. Innovation and creativity.
  2. Promote positive morale by continually contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  3. Have consistently exceeded expectations on the job.
    1. For example: by significantly improving a work process or system which increases efficiency or customer satisfaction.

Nominations should include up to three (3) letters of support
 

Team Innovators

 
Team Eligibility:

Teams must:

  1. be a group of individuals, faculty, staff, or students, either from various departments and units across the college or within one department or unit, who are united for a common purpose or project
  2. be groups that work together on a regular basis or have been appointed for a specific work-related purpose
  3. have ten members or fewer
Team Criteria:

Nominated teams must:

  1. Be engaged in activities supporting major department and college goals including those related to teaching and research
  2. Function collaboratively to accomplish team goals using innovative and creative approaches.
  3. Consistently perform quality work which contributes to the improvement or progress of the department or college.
Additional Support:
  • Nominations should include up to three (3) letters of support
