Ice Cream in a Bag Project

This is really simple, but the key is keeping the bag flying, tumbling, and shaking, so it's best to have a an enthusiastic group participating.

Supplies and Ingredients

  • 1 gallon-size zipper-top plastic bag
  • 1 quart-size zipper-top plastic bag
  • Ice
  • 6 Tablespoons rock salt
  • 1 cup of milk or half & half
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons sugar

Directions

  1. In the smaller bag, mix milk, vanilla extract, and sugar. Seal the bag tightly.
  2. Fill the large bag halfway with ice and add rock salt.
  3. Place the small bag into the ice and rock salt bag and seal the big bag.
  4. Toss the bag around, shaking it vigorously for about 10 minutes.
  5. Open the big bag and remove the small bag, wiping it off before serving the ice cream.
  6. Enjoy!
