Behind-the-Scenes events give alumni the inside story on the engineering of local landmarks and operations—from symphony halls to small businesses.

ShoWare Center Tour - November 19, 2009

Join fellow engineering alumni and go “behind-the-scenes” at one of the greenest event centers in the country. The ShoWare Center, a multipurpose arena and home to the Seattle Thunderbirds, was recently awarded LEED GOLD certification for new construction with a perfect score for innovation and design. Learn about the design and construction from Mortenson Construction and the City of Kent. Highlights of the green features include:

  • Energy use reduction of over 37%
  • Recycling more than 90% of the construction debris
  • Over 40% water savings
  • Use of low volatile organic compound paints and adhesives
  • Native plant landscaping
