Mary Gates Endowment for Student Leadership Grants

Opportunity: Mary Gates leadership grants of $3000 or $4500 are available through a competitive application process to undergraduates enrolled fulltime (12 or more credits) who are engaged in a project or activity through which they are developing their notions of leadership and learning about themselves as leaders. Leadership scholars undertake a wide variety of activities in community, academic, and other settings.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

Opportunity: Up to 300 scholarships are awarded in the spring to undergraduates in the field of the natural sciences, math, and engineering who have shown excellence in their academic area and who have an interest in pursuing a research career. Awards cover expenses for tuition, fees, books, and room and board for students who have 1 or 2 years of undergraduate remaining. Goldwater scholars receive up to $7,500 annually for a maximum of two years. To compete, students must be formally nominated.

Opportunity: Students in Service is offering scholarships to UW students to help them pay for college while making a difference in their local communities. Students engaged in service in partnership with schools and community-based organizations in the areas of Education, Human Needs/Services, Public Safety and Homeland Security, and Environmental initiatives are eligible to enroll in the program
The Legacy Scholarship

The UWAA offers scholarships. The Legacy Scholarship is available to undergraduate juniors and seniors, including transfer students, but not current degree holders, who are enrolled as full-time students in Fall 2007. Students must have a parent or grandparent who holds a degree from the University of Washington and is a current member of the Alumni Association. Three recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need, scholastic achievements, leadership activities and community service. The application deadline is April 30, 2007. FORD/OSBERG FELLOWSHIPS

Opportunity: Following are specific requirements and details for each of the awards:
Ford Motor Company Fellowships:
Three (3) Ford Motor Company Fellowships will be given in the amount of $25,000 each.
- Nominees should be predoctoral students who are performing research related to micro-sensor technologies and problems that would be of interest to the Ford Company.
- Donor’s preference is that recipients have a permanent right to work in the United States.
Osberg Fellowship:
One (1) Osberg Fellowship in the amount of $25,000. Nominees should be graduate students from any Department in the College of Engineering who:
- Demonstrate exceptional academic merit & promise
- Have graduated from high school in the United States
- Donor's preference is that recipient be on Ph.D. track with long range goal of career in academia
Reinhardt Abraham Memorial Foundation Exchange Program

Opportunity: The Reinhardt Abraham Memorial Foundation provides graduate students and undergraduate seniors the opportunity to spend a six month period as a UW exchange student at the Technical University of Berlin (TU-B). The UW students will be participants in research projects for the duration of the stay at TU-B. The studies focus upon civil air transport, associated technology, and the sciences needed for its development.
