MEETING OF ABET COORDINATORS

Discussion:

1. Cindy Atman reported that the ABET team chair, Sherra Kerns, was also the coordinator for the accreditation of the Chemical & Petroleum Refining Engineering program at the Colorado School of Mines.

2. ABET has proposed a visit date of Nov. 12 & 13. Chen-Ching will ask for November 5 & 6 (1st option) or October 22 & 23 for the visit dates. If the ABET visitors begin their review of materials on Saturday or Sunday, Department coordinators will need to be available.

3. Pat Daniels reviewed the self-studies on May 10 & 11. Some of her comments were addressed. One concern she had was are realistic contraints addressed to all capstone design courses.

4. Karen Freisem announced that the OEA survey of 5-years-out graduates is on the web.


Action Items:

• Chen-Ching Liu will contact Ron Miller at the Colorado School of Mines and get his insights on Sherra Kern's review of their program.
• Program goals/mission/objectives need to be prominent on the web.
• The ABET visitors will probably look for departments' strategic plans on the web before the visit. Strategic plans should be prominent on the web or a description of were it is should be provided.
• An ABET Coordinators meeting should be scheduled during Summer quarter after the visit dates are finalized and the visiting team has been selected.
